Update on staff COVID testing

Published: 19 April 2021

All colleagues working on UofG campuses offered free, voluntary COVID testing

All staff who are working on the University’s campuses will be able to access two free lateral flow tests per week from the 26 April.

Colleagues in Gilmorehill and Garscube will be able to visit a University testing centre, while staff based in Dumfries will have access to home testing kits.

As made clear in the latest Scottish Government guidance, and reflected in the University’s COVID Recovery Route Map, access to campus is still reserved only for essential activities that cannot be done remotely, and this remains the case as we enter Protection Level 3, on 26 April.

Testing is voluntary and colleagues should only book a test if you’re working on campus.

Locations for the testing centres are:

  • Gilmorehill: Main building, Hunter Halls
  • Garscube: Mary Stewart building, Seminar Room

The test centres will be open to both students and staff from the 26 April on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays, from 10:00 until 16:00.

Booking is open from today (19 April).

Booking a test

If you receive a positive lateral flow test result, please inform the University via the UofG Helpdesk and make an appointment to visit an NHS testing facility for a confirmatory PCR test. There is more information about COVID testing on our webpages, including comprehensive FAQs, advice about what to expect and what to bring with you.

Over coming days, we will be publishing updated information on testing for colleagues and students who are travelling internationally.
