The UK Government has issued new advice

We wanted to again stress that the risk of infection from Coronavirus on campus remains low. We should all continue to pay attention to good hygiene, particularly washing hands regularly.

Anyone who has any specific concerns can contact our dedicated email address coronavirus@glasgow.ac.uk or call the Gatehouse on 0141 330 4444.

We are closely monitoring the situation and want to advise of the latest UK Government guidance.

Anyone who has travelled to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau in the last 14 days and is experiencing cough or fever or shortness of breath, is to stay indoors and call NHS 111, even if symptoms are mild.

If you have returned from the following specific areas since February 19, you should call NHS111 and stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms:

  • Iran
  • Special care zones in South Korea
  • Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days)

Specific towns in Northern Italy:

  • In the region of Lombardy: Codogno; Castiglione d’Adda; Casalpusterlengo; Fombio; Maleo; Somaglia; Bertonico; Terranova dei Passerini; Castelgerundo; and San Fiorano.
  • In the region of Veneto: Vo’Euganeo

If you have returned from these areas since February 19th and develop symptoms, however mild, you should stay indoors at home and avoid contact with other people immediately and call NHS111. You do not need to follow this advice if you have no symptoms.

  • Northern Italy – anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini but excluding the towns identified above
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Myanmar

Additional information can be found at the UK Government web pages.
