UofG and SRC seek award from the Carers Trust

The University, in partnership with the Students' Representative Council, is currently completing a submission for The Going Higher for Student Carers: Recognition Award.

Going Higher, introduced by the Carers Trust in April 2017, is an award which incentivises and encourages universities to adopt a sustainable, whole institution approach to identifying, supporting and reporting on student carers. The University already offer dedicated support to student carers through the named points of contact in Widening Participation, and in 2011 published the Student Carers Policy, developed in partnership with the SRC.

The SRC also run regular meet-ups for carers in the form of monthly lunches, and run an online support network for carers; students can find out more about the SRC Student Networks here.

The submission process for the award has not only highlighted the great support we already offer, but has also given the University and the SRC a fantastic opportunity to think more broadly about how we can support student carers and enhance their UofG experience.
