KeepCup proves a campus hit
Since the introduction of Hospitality Services’ “Action on waste, Bring a reusable cup, Cheapest prices apply, Ditch the disposable” in September, almost 29,000 hot drinks have been sold to customers using reusable cups. This has saved the equivalent of 50 cases of disposable cups ending up in a landfill site.
Scott Girvan, Executive Chef with Hospitality Services, says he is delighted with the success of the scheme, part of an ongoing effort to promote a ‘sustainable food’ culture on campus, which has also included the recent opening of vegetarian/vegan ‘Café Picolino’ in the Boyd Orr Building.
Stewart Miller, Sustainability Officer, Estates and Commercial Services, said: "It is brilliant to see such a positive change of behaviour on campus; food is a great way to get people thinking about how their personal choices can have a beneficial impact on the environment."
KeepCups can be purchased at all Hospitality Services retail outlets on campus. They cost £8.49, with the first hot drink free of charge, and a further saving every time you use it! An ideal gift at any time of year!

Mail Room on the move
The University's Central Mail room is moving location at the end of this month. The mail team's new headquarters will be in the Isabella Elder building with the main entrance on University Place, just before you get to the Botany Gate. The move is expected to be effective from Monday 29 January.

British Science Association - Glasgow Branch
On January 21st 2018 the Glasgow Branch of the British Science Association are hosting a volunteer recruitment drive to add our to existing volunteer and committee.
The British Science Association is a charity, founded in 1831. The BSA exists to promote our vision of a world where science is at the heart of culture and society. Our mission is to support, grow and diversify the community of people interested and involved in science; and to strengthen their influence over science's direction and place in society. The Glasgow Branch was recently relaunched in 2016.
Glasgow is well known for its scientific and industrial heritage and our organisation exists to involve EVERYONE regardless of background in science. As such, we are looking for volunteers of ALL backgrounds, scientific or not, who have an interest in science and believe in promoting it for good in the local Glasgow & West Scotland community.

Board opportunity at Cloch
The Cloch Housing Association (Inverclyde) has approached the UofG asking for assistance in recruiting new board members.
The Association are looking for two Voluntary Members to join their Board of Management. The Board are keen to attract local people who have an interest in improving the lives of local tenants, owners and other customers and who may have skills in finance, social housing, human resources or social care. They would be particularly keen to hear from tenants, owners and anyone else who uses their services.
The Association say it is a chance to learn new skills, socialise with people who have the same interests, be part of a successful socially inclusive organisation and to give something back to the Community.
People from all walks of life are welcome and the the Association encourages people who can represent currently under-represented groups in the Community. They offer travel expenses and other assistance for carers and other needs.
Cloch is the oldest housing association in Inverclyde, with their 50th year getting underway this year.
