Take care in the cold!

The icy weather over the weekend looks set to continue for a while yet.

Please take care on icy pavements and roadways, and keep an eye on the weather forecasts and travel advisories that are available online and on TV and Radio. 

Forecast for the Glasgow/Strathclyde area:

Mainly dry and cold with clear or sunny spells.

Scattered wintry showers at first then a mainly dry, bright and cold day. Some showers will continue across north and west Argyll with a fresh northerly breeze over the Isles. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Showers, wintry over high ground, will die away overnight. A widespread frost, and maybe some icy stretches, will develop under clearing skies. Minimum temperature -6 °C.

Mainly dry and bright start with the best sunshine in east. Rain, with snow on high ground, reaches western Argyll in the afternoon before spreading east across all parts later. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Showers on Wednesday, these turning wintry over high ground. Bright spells and scattered showers on Thursday and Friday. Less cold but some night frosts expected.
