Become an “Ask Me” Ambassador to help new students!

Published: 4 December 2017

Become an “Ask Me” Ambassador and help us welcome new students to the University of Glasgow this January.

Following an extremely successful campaign in September this year, the “Ask Me” campaign will run again from Monday 8 January – Wednesday 31 January 2018.

We are looking for members of staff from across the University to volunteer to join our existing community of Ask Me Ambassadors. We are striving to improve the introduction of new students to the University of Glasgow community and to enhance their experience.

It is important for our students to feel welcome and supported when they arrive. That’s where you can make an invaluable contribution with your wealth of experience, friendly face and information on hand.

How you will help:

The campaign will involve you wearing an “Ask Me” badge and/or lanyard for the duration of the campaign, while you go about your usual business. These will act as prompts, indicating that students can approach you and ask for help.

To aid you in this task, we will provide you with useful information and answers to the most common student questions.

Who can get involved:

  • This is open to all University of Glasgow staff
  • We’re looking for as many volunteers as possible.

What’s in it for you:

By wearing the badge or lanyard, you will have an opportunity to connect with students, experience the vibrant campus buzzing with a variety of events at the start of session and gain even more insight and perspective into the student life.

Previous Ambassadors found positive benefits of taking part in the campaign:

“You feel helpful, friendly, part of the GU team. I enjoyed heading out for lunch and seeing who stopped me!”

“It was nice to see the pink lanyards and badges around, felt communal and friendly.”
