Arrangements for parking on our campuses

At Gilmorehill

All staff members living outwith a 2-mile radius of the campus will be able to apply for a new ‘day permit’. The cost of these permits will be £1 per day (09:00 – 17:00), Monday to Friday. Parking outwith these times will continue to be free of charge and will not be subject to any permit. Operational staff whose working hours overlap slightly with either the start or finish time of the parking hours will not be required to purchase a permit but will need to register their vehicle with the Parking team (parking@glasgow.ac.uk).

Bookings can be made either on a daily basis or for a calendar month. Please see parking web pages for further details on the parking locations and to apply www.glasgow.ac.uk/parking

Please note that parking at Lilybank Gardens car park will NOT be available under the revised permit scheme for the remainder of this year. Anyone wishing to park there must use Glasgow City Council’s pay and display machines at their daily rates.

At Garscube

Students and staff members will be able to either reactivate their parking permit, enabling them to park each day, or apply for a new ‘day permit’.

At Tay House

Due to the restricted access to the main car parks for Tay House existing permit holders have been contacted separately to advise of the new arrangements.

Anyone who did not hold a permit may apply for the new daily permit which will be valid at car parks close to Tay House. Please see parking web pages for further details on the parking locations and to apply www.glasgow.ac.uk/parking

All locations

‘Blue Badge’ permit holders can continue to park on under the normal scheme’s terms and conditions.

All car parks will continue to be monitored on a daily basis and checks will be carried out on all vehicles parked in our parking facilities. If a space has not been booked via the online system and a vehicle is parked in one of the designated locations, then the owner may be served a parking charge notice.

We must continue to ensure that the campus and the other parking facilities are safe for pedestrians and other users so cars MUST be parked in marked parking bays.

Visitor parking will continue to be provided under the terms of the current scheme, with bookings payable online either by card payment or by budget code.

Please note that we are also considering steps to promote active travel options, including installation of more bicycle storage facilities on campus; in addition, I would draw your attention to the Cycle Plus  scheme - more information is available on the University website https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/staff/benefits/benefitsplus/cycleplus/
