Estates and Buildings have signed a framework agreement with Arthur McKay, the building support services company, creating a new electrical and mechanical maintenance partnership. The agreement will bundle 19 existing contracts into one, achieving significant improvements in delivery of planned maintenance.

The new three year partnership, starting in May 2017, will include delivery of a broad spectrum of specialist maintenance from electrical testing to emergency lighting and boiler systems to automatic doors. With such a wide range of maintenance activities taking place across the University buildings, the new partnership with a single provider will allow tailoring of maintenance to suit the particular needs within each building.

Barry Morton, Head of Operations said; “This is an exciting new partnership to drive forward our Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme and ensure compliance. Arthur McKay have successfully come through a thorough procurement process and we look forward to working with them. The deal will enable us to achieve significant efficiencies and improve service delivery. This forms part of our ongoing Business Improvements within Estates and Commercial Services.

For the University community this means an improved service but no change to the current process for raising maintenance works requests. These should still be submitted to the Estates and Buildings Helpdesk
