High Demand Collection

Borrowing books

Colour-coded stickers on the books tell you how long they can be borrowed for. You can only borrow 2 books at a time and these items cannot be renewed.

All books must be borrowed using the self-service machines inside the collection. These provide you with a print or email receipt, keep the receipt as it is your record of the books you have borrowed and when to return them.

Returning books

Return books using the red self-service machine within the collection. Place the returned item either onto the shelving trolleys or the white book bin.

Return your High Demand books on time or you will be charged 50p per hour (or part of an hour) for each book.

Hold shelf

The Hold Shelf is located in the High Demand Collection on Level 3. It is on the last set of shelves to your right as you enter.

You will receive an email telling you when your book is ready to collect.

Your book will have a label with the following code: the first letter of your name as it appears on your student card and the last 4 digits of the barcode underneath your name on the card.

Once you have found your hold, check that it is the correct book. Check your book out on the red self-check machines located in the High Demand Collection.

If you are unable to find your book on the hold shelf, it may have been re-shelved on the subject floors.

If you have any queries please contact our Library Services team.
