Provenance: Unidentified book stamps:  two oval books stamps on 1/1r - one with the number “N. 988” written below, but both so heavily inked and smudged as to be illegible.
William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  source unknown;  an early Euing inventory number “7” in pencil on front pastedown.
University of Glasgow:  presented by Euing in 1872 according to one of two University Library bookplates on front pastedown.
Binding: Italy, 18th-century vellum, gilt bands on spine together with gold-tooled black leather title label (“S. LIONE SERMONI”) and remains of a red leather date label at foot of spine.   Size:  270 mm x 200 mm.
Leaf size: 263 x 194 mm.
Annotations: Partially deciphered 16th/17th-century ownership(?) inscription on 1/1r “[...] regal[en]sis(?)”;  19th-century price in pencil on front pastedown “4/4/0” together with a price code “u/ge/-”;  word in pencil beginning “Ca┼┐san[...]” on front pastedown - the ending obscured by University Library bookplate;  19th-century pencil price code on rear pastedown “e/”.
Decoration: Many initials supplied in brown pen and ink - more frequently in the first section of the book.
