William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Gaignat sale through his agent, Jean-Baptiste Dessain, for 9 livres 14 sous;  see 'Dessain-Hunter correspondence' (University of Glasgow Library, MS Gen. 36, f.24v).

Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold circle at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  green silk bookmark.   Size:  210 x 148 mm.
Leaf size: 205 x 142 mm.
Annotations: Manuscript title (18th century) and conjectured place of printing and printer on recto of first blank leaf 1/1r “Moguntiae Fust”.
Decoration: Initials supplied in red throughout, some with pen-flourishing;  occasional paragraph marks and underlining supplied in red.
