Provenance: Munich, Royal Library (now Bayerische Staatsbibliothek):  “Dupl” in pencil (partially erased) at top outer corner of 1/1r;  possibly from the Royal Library, Munich.
John Ferguson (1837-1916), Professor of Chemistry, University of Glasgow:  source unknown;  Ferguson’s pencil signature on front pastedown and his note on the printer and Copinger reference on rear pastedown.

Binding: England, 19th/20th-century, gold-tooled panelled brown morocco;  gold-tooled spine;  gilt-edged leaves;  binder’s stamp in gilt on turn-in at foot of front board “Bound by Riviere & Son”.   Size:  219 x 147 mm.
Leaf size: 216 x 142 mm.
Annotations: Brief marginal annotations in an early hand on 2/7v (f. 15v) and 2/8r (f. 16r);  other (later) marginal annotations are washed out and almost illegible;  foliated “87” - “102” in red ink in centre of top margins in an early hand and with evidence of signatures added in red at lower right hand corner of some leaves e.g. “o3” on 1/3 and “p4” on 2/4 (f. 12) - indicating that this tract had once been bound at an early date with another work or works.
Decoration: Initials, capital strokes and paragraph marks supplied in red throughout.
Imperfections: None.
