William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Askew sale for £5.5.0 according to the annotated copy of the Askew sale catalogue in Cambridge University Library;  price confirmed in the partially annotated copy of the Askew sale catalogue in University of Glasgow Library (shelfmark Mu36-c.8).

Binding: 18th-century red morocco;  covers decorated with a gilt-roll border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  yellow-edged leaves;  signs of a tab or label removed from 1/2v.   Size:  283 x 194 mm.
Leaf size: 278 x 188 mm.

Decoration: Initials supplied mainly in blue, less frequently in red;  capital strokes and paragraph marks supplied in red throughout.
