William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  “No 93” (Euing’s inventory number) in ink on 1/1r;  purchased from Stark 3 June 1857 according to Euing’s acquisitions inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49);  earlier Euing inventory number "85" in pencil on front pastedown.

Binding: Scotland, 19th-century blind-tooled panelled calf, bevelled edges;  binder’s ticket on front pastedown “Bound by Carss & Coy. Glasgow.”   Size:  329 x 226 mm.
Leaf size: 317 x 214 mm.
Annotations: Traces of early manuscript signatures at extreme lower left-hand corner of many recto leaves;  partially read pencil annotation “ [...] ſc I” on 1/1r and possible 19th-century price code “dk/” in pencil on same page;  pencil number “68/11” on 1/2r is probably a binder's job number.
Decoration: Seven-line initial “U” on 1/2r and seven-line initial “F” on 1/3r supplied in red and reserved white with red pen-work infill and with red and purple pen-flourishing into margin;  other initials and paragraph marks supplied in red throughout.
Imperfections: Wanting the final blank leaf.
