Provenance: Georg Franz Burkhard Kloss (1787-1854), physician, Frankfurt:  Kloss’s reference to Panzer’s 'Annales' on front pastedown and a further bibliographical note, probably also by Kloss, on front fly leaf;  lot 953 in 'Catalogue of the library of Dr. Kloss, of Franckfort a M. ...' (London:  Sotheby, 1835) - confirmed in a pencil note by John Ferguson on front pastedown;  evidence of a book-plate or book-label removed from front pastedown - probably that of Kloss.
H.W.L (fl. 1866):  initials on rear pastedown “H.W.L. Nov. 29. 1866” repeated on front pastedown and front fly leaf as “H.L. 11/66”
James Elwin Millard (1823-1894), D.D., of Magdalen College, Oxford:  bookplate on front pastedown.

Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations throughout in a 15th/16th-century hand (many washed out);  occasional “nota” marks and pointing hands;  bibliographical note on free front endpaper referring to Dibdin’s 'Bibliotheca Spenceriana';  price “5.5.0” in ink on free front endpaper;  a bookseller’s catalogue slip (Thomas Arthur) pasted on to front pastedown, advertising a different edition of this work. 
Decoration: Some initials supplied in red up to 2/5v (f. 11v);  capital strokes supplied in red throughout.
Imperfections: Wanting the first blank leaf and the last four blank leaves.
