Provenance: Unidentified owner;  unidentified painted coat of arms on a3r:  within a pink disc (representing a wax seal?) on a shield argent (oxidized) a lion rampant azure, crowned or, surmounted by a bar gemel gules.
Bamberg, Bavaria, Jesuits:  inscription on a2r “Bambergensis Collegij Societatis Jesv 1619”.
William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  source unknown.
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “Au.5.15”.
Binding: 18th-century mottled calf;  gold-tooled spine;  sprinkled red-edged leaves.   Size:  296 x 210 mm.
Leaf size: 289 x 204 mm.
Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in a 15th/16th-century hand;  single marginal annotation in a later hand on c1r;  occasional interlinear corrections of text;  occasional “nota” marks, underlining and pointing hands;  18th-century price in pencil “1 1 0” scored through on front free endpaper, together with the number “6”(?) in ink.
Decoration: Seven-line initial ‘O’ on a3r supplied in shades of pink to represent foliage and set on a square blue ground (also with a foliate design), which is edged in dull gold and brown;  a similarly decorated seven-line initial ‘F’ on c2v;  other initials supplied in blue or maroon, often with marginal flourishing;  unidentified painted coat of arms on a3r (see Provenance).
Imperfections: Wanting the blank leaf a1.
