Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  blue silk bookmark.   Size:  330 x 228 mm.
Leaf size: 321 x 219 mm.
Annotations: Brief marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand in gatherings 15 and 16.
Decoration: Ten-line initial ‘C’ on 3/2r (f. 20r) supplied in blue and white on a dull pink square ground with dull gold tracery; the bowl of the initial ‘C’ decorated with flowers on a dull gold background; floral borders decorate the inner, upper and lower margins - the latter incorporating a painted coat of arms (see Provenance).   Other initials throughout supplied in red and blue with reserved white.
Imperfections: Wanting the first blank leaf.
