Job Retention Scheme

The Government’s ‘Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme’ provides UK employers with support for paying the wages of staff who may otherwise have been ‘laid off’ as a result of the impacts of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The scheme closed to ‘new entrants’ not already furloughed by 10th June 2020 and will be gradually phased out by October 2020. From 1st July 2020, the scheme rules will permit furloughed individuals to carry out some work (any number of hours on any shift pattern), with the University still able to claim based on any hours not worked.
