Archives & Special Collections

Archives and Special Collections (ASC) is a part of University Services and is home to the University's records of permanent and historical value. These records, dating back to the University's foundation in 1451, detail the history of our staff and students, along with our business, administrative, and research functions for the last 560 years. ASC also houses the Scottish Business Archive, which manages collections related to Scotland's shipbuilding, railroads, brewing and distilling, retail, and entrepreneurial history.

The University Records Centre is overseen by ASC, providing a direct line from active records created and used today to the permanent history of the University. Many of the records maintained by current staff will transition from the office to the URC and eventually into archival holdings.

Additional information on ASC, including details of their wide-ranging and diverse collections, is found on the Archives and Special Collections website.
