The UK Information Commissioner

The UK Information Commissioner enforces and oversees the General Data Protection Regulation, the UK-wide aspects of both the UK Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and the Telecommunications Regulations. The Commissioner is a UK independent supervisory authority, reporting directly to the UK Parliament and has both an international and national role.

The UK Information Commissioner is completely distinct from the Scottish Information Commissioner. The latter is responsible for the enforcement of compliance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
