Campus access arrangements
Staff and postgraduate researchers
From Monday 7 September, the University is in Phase 3 of Scotland's COVID-19 Route Map. This means that most buildings across campus will be open for approved activity.

In line with Scottish Government guidance, our default position is that staff should continue to work from home where possible. As the semester begins, we understand that there will be increasing requirements to return to work from campus on an ad hoc or ongoing basis.
Authorisation and local logistical arrangements for accessing buildings that are now open for business should be coordinated via your line manager and the Head of School/Service (HoS) or equivalent. It is important to do this, even if the building status is now open, as some areas still have local restrictions in place. This will ensure that your activity on campus adheres to the relevant health and safety requirements and that cleaning can be arranged accordingly.
All staff coming onto campus under any circumstances must have completed the “Return to Campus” Moodle course.
If you wish to temporarily access one of the buildings that will not open until Phase 4, to pick up equipment or material to support remote working, you can still make a request to do so via the UofG Helpdesk.
Contractors
The Daily Operations Team meeting in Estates reviews and controls access of contractors to buildings across Campus. This is essential to ensure the safety of our staff, students, visitors and contractors and to communicate and coordinate contractors’ activities across all of our buildings.
If you need to bring Contractors on campus please email the Operations Team [contractor-access@glasgow.ac.uk] so that access can be authorised and added to our Contractor Log. It should be noted that If the contractor is not listed on the Contractor Log, access may be delayed or refused.
It may be necessary from time to time to arrange Janitorial support for contractor access and by contacting this email address these arrangements can be authorised and put in place.
A notification period of at least one week is required for out of hours and/or weekend cover.
Please note, the University member of staff who brings the contractors onto campus has a responsibility for all aspects of the contractors work and behaviour during their time on campus.
Upon attendance the contractors must use the sign in and out books present in buildings they are accessing.
Visitors
All visitors to buildings must use the sign in and out books and will only be authorised to access buildings that have been signed off as open under Phase 3.
In addition, safety arrangements must be made for visitors and those hosting them must ensure that they are clear on the COVID-19 arrangements for the building and campus.
