Students need to demonstrate to employers that they're aware of the skills they've developed through their degrees - their ability to think critically, work independently and communicate effectively.

We're here to help with all of your careers education-related needs.

We work in partnership with the schools and colleges to deliver a bespoke calendar of in-course activity for your students.

Contact the Careers Manager for your subject to discuss your particular requirements. Careers Managers are happy to attend School and College meetings and contribute to relevant agenda items.

Destination data requests

The employment value of a degree has never been more important to students. 

The Careers Manager for your College/School will be happy to talk to you about your destination statistics and refer you to Planning and Business Intelligence or Unistats depending on your requirements.

Contributing to the curriculum

We are happy to provide everything from a 15 minute talk as part of your induction process to a two hour career planning workshop. These can be tailored to your needs.

Employability and Graduate Attributes Support

Employability is a long-standing strategic funding priority within the University. We have extensive experience in supporting employability-related bids and can provide input to ensure your projects are informed by best practice, viable, sustainable, and linked into wider strategic developments.

Glasgow's graduate attributes matrix describes the academic abilities, personal qualities and transferable skills that all of our students should develop during the course of their studies.

The University has made the embedding of graduate attributes within programmes and courses a strategic priority. Embedded delivery can encompass a broad spectrum of interventions, including but not limited to:

  • Raising students' awareness of their graduate attributes
  • Aligning learning and assessment practices to develop particular attributes
  • Signposting opportunities for skills development
  • Incorporating work-related learning
  • Introducing reflection opportunities and personal development planning

A growing number of departments around the university are hiring interns to work on projects. This can be full time during the summer or part-time during term time. Through the Internship Hub we can:

  • Define the project and build the job description
  • Advertise the position
  • Provide first stage screening to give a shortlist
  • Help arrange interviews
  • Support you and the intern throughout the process

How can you help us?

We believe in working together. Whether you are a lecturer, tutor or adviser, you will play a key role in influencing your students' views on the importance of their developing employability. More generally, we always welcome your feedback and suggestions for how we might improve the services we offer. 

You can help us by:

  • Reminding students of the services we provide and our website
  • Encouraging students to visit us early in their degree
  • Referring students to us as required
  • Giving as much notice as possible of any input you require from us

As part of your School you can help us by:

  • Distributing our guides and leaflets in your School's communal areas
  • Helping to locally promote our upcoming events, workshops and placement opportunities
  • Advising us of the best avenues to engage your students
  • Keeping us informed of any relevant developments in your subject area

On a College level, you can also help us by:

  • Inviting your Careers Manager to College committee meetings for relevant agenda items
  • Providing a list of Careers contacts for the College and its Schools and subject areas
