Peter Stewart was born in Greenock in 1813 and was educated at Paisley Grammar School. He served an apprenticeship with William Jeffrey, surgeon in Paisley.
He gained a LRCS, Edinburgh (1834) and MD, Glasgow (1845). In practice in Glasgow area at Lauriston and Charing Cross and died in 1883.
