Administrative / Biographical History
Patricia Palmar was Secretary to the Chairmen of the Western Regional Hospital Board from 1947 up to 1974 when the WRHB was disbanded.
In 1947 she and Sir Alexander McGregor, the first Chairman, were the first two members of staff of the National Health Service in the West of Scotland.
One of her first tasks was to devise a record keeping system: the registry system she devised remained in use for about 40 years. Her niece states that Patricia Palmar had worked at Blethcley Park in wartime and had responsibility for record keeping systems there also.
