Andrew Patrick Joseph Curran was born around  1917  and was educated at the  University of Glasgow. He gained the qualifications BSc in  1937 ; MB ChB in  1940 ; DPH in  1948 ; and MD in  1960. Curran went on to become Deputy Medical Officer of Health in Luton and West Ham and then Senior Lecturer in Community Medicine in the University of Glasgow. Curran was then a Senior Research Fellow in Public Health in the University of Glasgow. He died in 1996.
