Administrative / Biographical History

David Fyfe Anderson was born in  1904  and educated at Strathaven Academy, High School of Glasgow and the  University of Glasgow. It was at Glasgow University that he gained the qualifications MB ChB,  1926  and MD,  1935. He became an Assistant (later Visiting) Surgeon at the Glasgow Royal Maternity Hospital between 1930 and 1970, and was a Rockefeller Medical Fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA, between 1935-1936. Anderson was also Professor of Midwifery and Diseases of Women in Anderson's College of Medicine, Glasgow from 1934-1937 then Muirhead Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the University of Glasgow,  1946-1970. He retired to Bishopton, Renfrewshire and died in  1988.
