Formed in 1948 Paisley & District Hospitals Board of Management was responsible for the Royal Alexandra Infirmary, Glen Coats Auxiliary Hospital, Royal Victoria Eye Infirmary, Barshaw Maternity Hospital, Hawkhead Infectious Diseases Hospital, Elderslie Cottage Hospital, Thornhill Maternity Hospital, Johnstone Hospital, Peesweep Sanatorium, and Darnley Hospital. In 1968 Dykebar, Riccartsbar and Broadfield psychiatric hospitals were added. In 1974 this Board of Management was replaced by the Renfrew District of Argyll & Clyde Health Board.
