Formed in 1948 as the Renfrewshire Mental Hospitals Board of Management and re-named in 1964, the Board had responsibility for Dykebar Hospital, Ravenscraig, Broadfield and Riccartsbar Hospitals and the psychiatric section of Craw Road Institution. The Dykebar & Associated Hospitals Board of Management was disbanded in 1968 . Ravenscraig Hospital was then placed under the Greenock & District Hospitals Board of Management whilst the other hospitals were transferred to Paisley & District Hospitals Board of Management.
