University of Glasgow and student visas

The University of Glasgow has been selected to take part in a new UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) pilot scheme.

The pilot scheme will provide one-year masters students the opportunity to benefit from a streamlined visa application process along with six months extra time on their visa to look for work after their studies have ended.

Benefits of the scheme

  • While you must still prepare your financial and academic documents for your Tier 4 visa application (e.g. such as a bank statements/sponsor letter or academic qualifications), you will not be required to submit these. Please note that you are still required to meet the Tier 4 Immigration Rules and you may be chosen to provide this documentation to the UKVI.
  • You will be granted six months leave after your course end date: this will be helpful if you wish to stay in the UK to look for work after your studies have ended. Visa processing times may also be slightly quicker.‌
