Congratulations to Parvathy!

The International Student Support team send our congratulations to Parvathy Ramesh, one of our PGT international students.  After a competitive selection process, Parvathy was one of only 10 students to be selected to be a member of UKCISA’s first cohort of Student Ambassadors for the #WeAreInternational campaign.  The #WeAreInternational Student Ambassador Programme is an education policy and leadership development scheme for exceptional individuals from around the world currently studying and living in the UK.

Parvathy is originally from India and studies MSc in Global Mental Health at the University. Parvathy was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship Commission scholarship for her Masters studies and is the representative for the University for the Commission.  She has a keen interest in the mental health needs of international students derived from her experiences in mental health settings and interactions with students across the UK.  During her time on the Student Ambassador Programme, she hopes to understand and influence policy to ensure that international students are able to access the support they need, so that they can make the most of their time in the UK.

UKCISA commented: “These inspirational students have demonstrated great determination and drive to develop their own skills by representing their peers, and are passionate about ensuring that the lived experience of international students is understood by policymakers at national and institutional level.”

Well done, Parvathy – we wish you much success on the Programme!
