EU and EEA Immigration Health Surcharge reimbursements

From 1 January 2022, some EU or EEA students who hold an EHIC can apply for a refund of the money they paid for the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) when making a Student visa application for the UK. This is called an "IHS reimbursement":

  • If you’re a student from the EU, your reimbursement will be backdated to include any surcharge payments made for a visa starting on or after 1 January 2021.
  • If you’re a student from Switzerland, your reimbursement will be backdated from 1 November 2021 even if your visa started earlier.

You can read about who is eligible to apply for an IHS refund and how to apply for this here
