Join Mary Queen of Scots experts from all over Scotland at this online event, exploring the nation's most important collections of objects related to the Scottish monarch. Complementing our major exhibition The Afterlife of Mary Queen of Scots, colleagues will explore objects dating from Mary’s own time to depictions of Mary across the centuries. The objects tell their own tales and reveal a great deal about the way Mary's story has been used across the centuries to approach broader issues such as gender, sexuality, power, monarchy and diversity.

Programme

  • Introduction by exhibition curators Steven Reid and Anne Dulau Beveridge
  • Kate Anderson, senior curator, 16th & 17th Century Collections, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, National Galleries of Scotland
  • Anna Groundwater, principal curator, Renaissance and Early Modern History, National Museums Scotland
  • Anette Hagan, Rare Books curator and Ann Cameron, Moving Image curator, National Library of Scotland
  • Anthony Lewis, curator of Scottish History, Glasgow Museums
  • Antonia Laurence-Allen, regional curator, National Trust for Scotland
  • Morvern French, Properties Historian, Historic Environment Scotland
