The EMOTIVE project's final public demo event will take place on 30 October 2019, at the Hunterian Museum, Main Campus building of the University of Glasgow.

EMOTIVE is a European Union-funded Horizon 2020 project which seeks to develop emotionally-resonant digital experiences for visitors at cultural heritage sites, with a particular focus on the unique - but curatorially very challenging - UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Roman Frontier display on the Antonine Wall at the Hunterian Museum in Scotland and the Neolithic site of Çatalhöyük in Turkey. These experiences aim to allow on-site and off-site (local and remote) forms of digital engagement, drawing on the power of storytelling, and seeking also to foster group/social interaction.

The public demo event will be an opportunity for visitors, cultural and creative industry professionals and researchers to try out a range of the EMOTIVE experiences and prototypes we have created for these two cultural sites. The EMOTIVE experience demos will showcase a variety of different applications, including:

- Verecunda: A window to the Scottish Roman Past: digital storytelling for 4 concurrent users, character-driven exploration of the objects on display, VR, AR and group interaction, exploring issues of identity and what makes us who we are

- Ebutius's Dilemma:  (both an onsite version of the Hunterian Antonine Wall gallery, and a virtual one for remote online access)  interactive storytelling integrating the museum objects and a 360 panorama of the gallery space  about a Roman centurion and how his life was shaped by interactions with the locals and others who lived along the Wall

- Collaborative Çatalhöyük: group experience for 2 users, who are led around four replica houses in the virtual environment, where they explore the actions of the locals of Neolithic Çatalhöyük, share and leave behind objects to echo their egalitarian society

- The Çatal Schoolkit  that includes both hands-on creative personalisation of 3D-printed artefacts as well as digital exploration & the pedagogical integration of the Ebutius Onsite & Virtual  to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence for use in the classroom for both primary and secondary teachers and students

There will also be stations with information about the EMOTIVE authoring tools and how all these experiences were put together; the use of personas for designing for cultural heritage; innovation on the use of moulds for creating 3D-printed artefacts ... and even Roman re-enactments by The Antonine Guard

The event is supported by the newly created Glasgow Digital Cultural Heritage Network (supported by the University of Glasgow’s Arts Lab) and will provide an excellent opportunity to see the results of innovative digital heritage research.
