New Perspectives on Old Collections
Join Hunterian Director Steph Scholten for our annual Directors Choice. At this event, Steph will discuss contemporary issues and relate them to objects that are currently on display in the Hunterian Museum.
The vast Hunterian collection has been brought together in many different ways, over a long time span, from many different sources and from all corners of the world. It contains many objects of great cultural and scientific value and represents the legacy of great minds and generous donors.
At the same time, the collection is testimony to ways of thinking and practices that are increasingly questioned in the 21st century. This forces us to consider the darker sides of the dominance of Western Europe in modern history and to reflect these in the presentation of the collection to our audiences.
