‘The Antonine Wall: Rome’s Final Frontier’ gallery is not the only thing that is new at The Hunterian this September.

‘The Antonine Wall: Rome’s Final Frontier’ gallery is not the only thing that is new at The Hunterian this September.

Scotland’s oldest public museum is taking the opportunity to reintroduce itself to its visitors from 10 September with new opening hours, including Sunday opening, a new look website, gallery tours and a new bi-annual exhibition programme which begins with a major exhibition in the Hunterian Art Gallery devoted to Scottish artist J. D. Fergusson.

The Hunterian is also looking for some new ‘Friends’ and will launch a scheme which offers members a range of exclusive benefits and the chance to participate actively in its work. Friends will give vital support and subscriptions will help directly with new exhibitions and galleries, education, conservation work and with new acquisitions.

Friends will receive a number of benefits, including free admission to special Hunterian exhibitions, free admission to The Mackintosh House, a special programme of events led by Hunterian curators and invitations to special viewings of new exhibition.

Further details of how to join will be posted on The Hunterian website from September, including details of the special programme of Friends events.
