James McCall (1834-1915) was the founder and first Principal of Glasgow Veterinary College, which became part of the University in 1949.  McCall spurned a legal career focusing instead on the many facets of veterinary science; from practice through education and research to public health.  He was President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and held a number of public offices.  From small beginnings James McCall’s enterprise, commitment and energy spawned an organisation that now ranks among the great veterinary establishments internationally.

This event is open to everyone and we encourage staff, students and visitors to participate.

Although this event is free, we do ask that people register to attend - McCall Lecture registration here
