The Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is a public university with a focus on sciences, technologies and health. It was ranked sixth best university in France and 4th best (115th worldwide) in Engineering and IT.
Grenoble is one of France’s most important centres of scientific research and high-tech industry. The city in the southeast of France with its 160,000 inhabitants is often referred to as the French ‘Capital of the Alps’. The city boasts a superb public transport system and is known for museums and nightlife. The metropolitan area of roughly 650,000 people also consists of 60,000 students. It is a centre for skiing and mountaineering tourists and many great outdoor activities are conveniently close.
