Introduction: 

The Confucius Institute of the University of Glasgow is organising a two week summer exchange programme at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu and Nankai University in Tianjin, China. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are interested in Chinese language, history and culture. The successful candidates will spend the mornings in classrooms learning Chinese language from experienced language tutors and learn Chinese calligraphy, tea ceremony, Chinese musical instruments, attend lectures, visit sites of historical and cultural interest in the afternoons and weekends.

The programme will run from 5th July to 20th July 2019 (the first week is at UESTC, the second week is at Nankai). The deadline for applications is Friday 3rd May 2019.

Eligibilities:

  • Confucius Institute registered students will be given priority in allocating scholarships but everyone is welcome to apply.
  • Aged 18 and above.
  • Has never been to China under the Confucius Institute Summer Exchange Programme.
  • Non- Chinese National.

The Confucius Institute will pay for the language classes, accommodation, meals and transport during the programmes in China.

  • International return flights (depends on the time of booking).

How to apply:

Please send the following documents to the Confucius Institute in hard copy by 5pm, Friday 3rd May 2019:

  • Summer Exchange Application Form with a photo.
  • A personal statement.
  • Two reference letters attached).
  • Academic transcripts (or your highest degree certificate if you have been awarded one).
  • A copy of your passport.
