Each year on the UN Day for the Eradication of Poverty, events are held across the world to honour the dignity and worth of all those struggling to survive the unnecessary evil that is poverty - including here in Glasgow. The Day itself is the 17th October, but we extend that focus here to the 18th, to allow those already marking that previous Day in community together, to then join us - researchers, colleagues, partners, collaborators, and friends from near and far - to say clearly 'Community Matters'.
We have a diverse and impressive range of speakers and panellists from inside and outside the University, bringing their experience and expertise to share with us - on the history of the Day itself; on the realities of poverty on our doorstep; on why poverty is a human rights issue, and on the forthcoming Scottish Government Human Rights Bill, and what difference it has the potential to make.
Bring your questions, join the discussion, and start those all important conversations on where we can go from here. More event details will be provided soon, but prompt booking is advised, as places are limited.
The ARC is a fully accessible building, and close to public transport - and please don't hesitate to let us know if you need any additional support to be involved.
All are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there!
