This exhibition shows how graphic art can be used to represent technical data about carbon emissions in an engaging and informative way. Working in collaboration with Glasgow City Council and graphic art students from the Glasgow School of Art, art works in the form of table mats were produced. These mats detail Glasgow’s carbon use and actions that households can take to reduce carbon usage.
The exhibition explores the role of social accounting in presenting data. Survey results show that compared to graphs, charts and tables of figures, an artistic representation of carbon use is a more effective way of communicating with the public.
