Achieving net zero targets will require bold transformation and use of new green technologies. All the changes required to how we live, connect and work to reduce carbon can be enabled by smart and green technologies in some way. These green innovations are not just about new technologies: they also consider new ways of deploying existing technologies, developing new business models and consumer offerings, and, crucially, new policies and new forms of regulation. Importantly, they are also technological innovations whose primary purpose is to benefit society in the move to Net Zero. The key to the success of UK transportation industry is smart, connected vehicles and trains that leads to step change in green transportation. The aim of this panel is to explore new ways of innovating with data and connectivity for the deployment of clean transportation technology.
The objectives are to 1) asses current enablers of and challenges to implementation of green innovations; 2) global examples of successful smart, connected green transportation innovation initiatives; 3) identify new ways to innovate with smart, green, connected vehicles for the future of transportation.
To address the aim and objectives, the panel brings together a group of experts who are from the public and private sector, from the business and engineering academics. The event will interest research communities, public sector organisations, private sector, and citizen/service-user representatives who seek to identify ways to innovate with connected transportation for the future of living and transportation.
Each speaker is invited to speak for 10 minutes each in turn about their view on green transportation. This will be followed by a 50 minute of discussion.
