Agriculture has the potential to be a key driver in the transition towards net-zero, moving the industry from being one of the drivers for climate change and nature loss, to being a solution. This transition needs to start with the farmers, who are the stewards of agriculture lands. About 15 organisations from across the food value chain have come together under the European Carbon+ Farming Coalition, to deliver toward this potential and help accelerate the farm-level transition to carbon farming and get farmers rewarded for it. Farmer centricity is a key criteria for the coalition’s work that is based on a large farmer outreach involving 1,800 farmers from across 7 countries.

During this session, the coalition will share its preliminary findings and insights on how to make a net-zero, nature-positive agriculture a reality. Various representative stakeholders from the food value chain will then discuss these initial findings to provide further perspective and insight from where they operate as well as discuss possible routes for implementing carbon net-zero actions and potential reward mechanisms for farmers.
