Established in 2025, the purpose of the new organisation was simple: To advocate for the world’s future generations and to protect all living creatures, present and future. It soon became known as the Ministry for the Future, and this is its story.

We are delighted to host legendary sci-fi author Kim Stanley Robinson at the University of Glasgow as part of the book tour for his latest novel, The Ministry for the Future.

Kim Stanley Robinson is a New York Times bestseller and winner of the Hugo, Nebula and Locus awards. He is the author of more than twenty books, including the bestselling Mars trilogy, 2312, Aurora and New York 2140. In 2008, he was named a ‘Hero of the Environment’ by Time, and he works with the Sierra Nevada research institute. He lives in Davis, California.

Hosted in partnership with the Centre for Fantasy and the Fantastic.

Presented as part of The Dear Green Bothy, a collaborative cultural programme from the University of Glasgow’s College of Arts showcasing creative and critical responses to climate emergency.
