From folklore to fantasy, children’s literature to Sci-Fi, humans have always written tales of magic and wonder that relate the human to the non-human world. At a time of ecological crisis this imaginative capacity for ‘serious play’ is needed more than ever. Join the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Fantasy and the Fantastic for a series of speed dating presentations exploring how fantasy engages us with climate emergency, before handing over to authors Ruth EJ Booth and Oliver Langmead for an interactive creative writing session inspired by the evening’s conversation.

Please Note: you will need separate tickets for both parts of this session.
18:45 – 20:00: Presentations & Discussion

20:00 – 20:15: Break
20:15 – 21:45: Creative Writing Session

Presented as part of The Dear Green Bothy, a collaborative cultural programme from the University of Glasgow’s College of Arts showcasing creative and critical responses to climate emergency.
