The release of the University's 'Understanding Racism, Transforming University Cultures' report in February gave an unequivocal recognition of the work and commitment that must be actioned at the University of Glasgow in order to make our campuses truly inclusive for staff and students.
As the University begins the extensive work towards the accompanying Action Plan, this event will focus on the topic of one of the four underpinning principles embedded in the plan: "Our curriculum and and learning community will thrive when it is reflective of global perspectives and race equality is embedded".
This is a half-day symposium, open to staff and students of the University of Glasgow, to explore how we can combat racism in universities, and how and why we might decolonise the curriculum.
The running order of the symposium will be as follows:
9.30 - 9.50: Welcome & Introduction from Professor Moira Fischbacher-Smith, Vice-Principal of Learning & Teaching
9.50 - 10.45: UofG Lightening Talks:
