The City of Glasgow invites the delegates of IIPF 2019 to Glasgow City Chambers to celebrate the annual IIPF congress and to welcome you to Glasgow.

The City Chambers, built in 1888, is one of the city’s most prestigious buildings and the home of Glasgow City Council. The building is in the Beaux-arts style, with an grand interior in the Venetian style with marble floors and pillars, a ceiling decorated in gold leaf and topped by a stained glass dome. Delegates will be welcomed by The Rt Hon The Lord Provost Councillor Eva Bolander. 

Please remember to indicate your attendance at the Welcome Reception on the registration form even though it is included in the congress fee. Please note that it might not be possible to register for the reception on the evening.

Excursions   

Option 1: Clydeside Distillery Tour and Whisky Tasting

Discover fascinating tales about the birth of the whisky industry and Glasgow’s history then meet the lively craftsmen as they handcraft pure new make spirit using traditional methods and time-honoured skills. Finally head to the tasting room where you can enjoy 3 wee drams of whisky. Your guide will talk you through using all your senses to enhance the experience of nosing and appreciating each dram.

Option 2: Guided Tour of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Duration: 3:45pm - 6:00pm (exact time may be subject to change)

Price: included in the congress registration fee, advance registration required

An expert guide will take you on a journey through the extensive galleries and allow you to explore artistic gems including Mackintosh, Glasgow Boys, Scottish Colourists & Dali and discover the history of the building and the stories behind it. Following that you can enjoy one hour of private access where you can take in the delights of the museum at your own pace. Please note this will require a short walk over uneven ground.

Option 3: Boat tour on Loch Lomond

Sit back and relax during this one hour circular tour of Loch Lomond where you will enjoy views of the magnificent Ben Lomond and pass a number of Loch Lomond's stately homes and castles along the shoreline. You will sail out towards Inchmurrin Island - the largest of Loch Lomond's 33 islands and home to the ancient remains of Lennox Castle, which in the 14th century sheltered a fugitive Robert the Bruce before he was to become King of Scotland. Loch Lomond is the largest fresh water lake in the British Isles. It is 24 miles long, up to five miles wide and 600 feet deep, with a shoreline measuring over 95 miles.

Conference dinner

The confernece dinner will be served in the Grand Ballroom, on the first floor of the hotel.
