Academics

If you wish to develop employability initiatives for your acacemic programmes and courses, the Student Experience & Partnership Lead - Skills & Development can provide the necessary support and guidance. Support can be given in the following areas though this list is not exhaustive:

  • Workshops/ seminar to PGT convenors and relevant academics on work-related learning opportunities available
  • Subject-specific workshops delivered to students on employability and its benefits
  • Information, advice and guidance on a range of employability initiatives such as embedded placements, collaborative dissertations, study tours, guest speaker career talks, work based projects as an alternative to the traditional dissertation and support in establishing these new initiatives.

Offering such opportunities to our students not only benefits them but can benefit you, your programme and the University as a whole by:

  • Helping to increase levels of applications and student satisfaction
  • Helping our graduates develop skills that will help them gain employment in a very competitive job market
  • Enhancing the learning experiences and opportunities provided for our students
  • Providing an opportunity to establish strong links with employers which can lead to collaborative research and knowledge exchange. This in turn could become a source of income.
