College investment fund

College investment fund

Background

For the financial year 2016-17, the College has set aside £100K to be available to invest in activities that will promote the strategic goals of the College, including, of course, internationalisation and research.

Mechanism

Approval process

Applications for funds for should be approved by the relevant dean.

The Dean should check that there is sufficient budget available for your request prior to approval.

Control
As individual projects are approved the budget will be transferred from the centrally held project in Agresso (Project number 144804-01) to the relevant school project number (noted below). As expenditure is incurred it should be allocated to the relevant school project number. This will allow control and monitoring of the utilisation of the investment fund and actual expenditure against budget at school projects from Agresso.

College administration (Graham Kelly) will maintain a spreadsheet which will record all allocations against the investment fund and the remaining balance on the fund. Gordon Duckett has responsibility for ensuring approval information on research is passed promptly to Graham.  Pat Duncan has responsibility for ensuring approval information on Learning and Teaching is passed promptly to Graham and Trevor Hoey has responsibility for ensuring approval information on Internationalisation is passed promptly to Graham.

Heads of Administration at Schools are responsible to ensure costs are accurately matched to approved project budgets at school level.

Reporting

As noted Graham Kelly will maintain a Investment Fund which will record all approved applications against the investment fund and the remaining balance on the fund. In addition project reports can be run from Agresso which will compare budget vs. actual spend at school level and record remaining balance against the investment fund.
