‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Research vision

I am a groundwater specialist. My expertise relates to the identification of actual or future groundwater quality impairment, whether due to natural processes or anthropogenic activities.

New transdisciplinary approaches are required to address water quality issues and provide citizen-led solutions in challenging contexts, in order to deliver safe and sufficient water for all in a sustainable way.

Compared to most of my hydrogeologist fellows, I have an unusual background (studied environmental biology instead of geology during my bachelor) which opened up my perspectives outside of my own discipline. I have also plenty of international fieldwork experience and specific interest for Latin America. I am currently managing a strong relationship with a local community in Colombia through a citizen science programme where I hope to develop community-led solutions to overcome local challenges arising from environmental devastation

Expectations from collaboration

I am looking to develop new interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle some challenges faced by communities in Latin America. Specifically, I would like to hear from people with the following expertise:

  • Water treatment – development of small-scale sustainable drinking and/or waste water treatment using local available material
  • Geophysics applied to alluvial aquifers – for a better characterisation of these aquifers in areas with poor or lack of data and difficult of access
  • Coastal aquifers – their dynamic and how it affects groundwater quality

If you are interested to have a discussion regarding a potential collaboration, please get in touch

Key Skills

  • Fieldwork techniques for qualitative and quantitative hydrogeology
  • Environmental monitoring & water sampling
  • Inorganic chemistry and isotopes applied to shallow groundwater and geothermal fluids
  • Groundwater modelling (FEFLOW®)
  • GIS mapping (ArcMap)
  • Statistics for the interpretation of water quality data
