Safety within the College of Science & Engineering is the responsibility of each and every individual staff, student and visitor.  Successful management of health and safety can only be effectively achieved through the concerted effort and active participation of everyone.

Emergency and Crisis Support - Campus Security

Dial extension 4444, or (0141) 330 4444 if calling externally, (Garscube: 2222) and you will be put in touch with the Security Office. Emergency assistance may be obtained at any time of the day or night.

Tell the Security Office which emergency service you want (Police, Fire or Ambulance) and give the following information:

  • the location from which you are telephoning;
  • the type of emergency and the type of assistance required; and
  • the place where the assistance is required.


If you find a fire:

  • Raise the alarm: set off a fire alarm; or shout "FIRE!"
  • If it's safe for you to do so, phone the Fire Brigade by calling ext. 4444: say where the fire is and give your name and phone number
  • Always follow your local fire safety regulations. 

First Aid

Please familiarise yourself with the First Aiders in your local area.  Details of First Aiders are displayed prominently around your School/College Office. If you think it's beyond First Aid call an ambulance via ext. 4444.
